Camp Greenville is an overnight camp established in 1912 that hosts boys and girls from throughout the region and the world for summer camps, retreats and specialty camps. The Camp Admin & Communications Manager supports the work of YMCA Camp Greenville and the YMCA of Greenville, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Director of Camper Services & Communications, the manager position will support, coordinate and provide input with communications, marketing, and business office functions of camp by managing daily administrative tasks and ensuring exceptional customer service. This role also supports summer camp operations while camp is in session. This position is primarily assigned to and supports Camp Greenville operations, including year-round preparation and seasonal programming. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a field compatible with the mission and work of the YMCA
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in program development and management including budgeting, recruiting, staffing, training
  • Required to live on-site seasonally (Summer, peak program season)
  • Six months to a year of overnight summer camping experience
  • Current certification or ability to complete CPR, 1st Aid, AED training
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the minimum requirements of the YMCA insurance carrier
  • Professional experience working with varied groups including children, adolescents, college students, adults, parents, teachers
  • Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make oral presentations.
  • Must be able to effectively work with and motivate other staff and volunteers
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Incumbent must complete mandatory training of New Staff Orientation, BBP/Child Abuse Prevention and CPR/First Aid/AED training within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily, weekly, and seasonal administrative duties, including reporting, parent communication, and customer service tasks.
  • Support the team of Directors through various office management and reporting tasks.
  • Be present during office hours at Camp Greenville as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Live on site during the summer, peak programming season. Housing is available for summer only.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service to camp families, staff, and visitors.
  • Responds to all members and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain communication for things like recruitment events, camp tours, Newsletters, inhouse open house family tours etc.; and develop and maintain relationships with summer staff and camper parents.
  • Follow all communication protocols, including office and desk work, timely message return, meeting deadlines for form submission, and appropriate phone, internet, and radio communication.
  • Handle confidential information in a private and professional manner.
  • Represent camp at special events and community outreach opportunities.
  • Enhance the sustainability of the year-round camp store by optimizing online inventory setup, marketing, and order fulfillment.
  • Operate and maintain the store during summer camp and family weekends
  • Implement promotion of all Camp Greenville Programs, in conjunction with Branch/Association marketing and promotion plans
  • Ensure alignment with YMCA of Greenville and Y-USA branding, and Y-USA overnight Camp Branding communication/marketing plans, and overall strategy.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day scheduling and accountability of the camp store, bunk notes, parent communication, and office logistics.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard of summer staff including the store coordinators and media team
  • Work with the direct supervisor to develop and monitor camp store revenue and camp store budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Work with the staff team for the smooth and safe operation of camp.
  • During the summer months, provide support and supervision for Seasonal Media and support staff including but not limited to performance evaluations, daily staff check-in, and managing the staff schedules
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, off-site committees to enhance overall camp programming.
  • Serve in the “Staff on Duty” role as assigned for weekends, stayover, summer evenings, etc.
  • Work non-traditional hours, including early mornings and evenings.
  • Maintain the physical ability to perform emergency procedures.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities
