About The Position

The Calibration Technician is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company’s calibration program within the Digital Quality Management System (QMS). This role owns the calibration register for quality critical instruments used in vertically integrated electric pressure pumping services, which includes gas conditioning equipment, aeroderivative turbines and reciprocating engines for generating power, and pressure pumping equipment (blender, pumps, etc.). Working under the direction of the QMS Manager, the Calibration Technician ensures that all Testing, Measuring, Monitoring, and Detection Equipment (TMMDE) is identified, controlled, calibrated, labeled, and documented in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable standards. This role is critical in ensuring measurement accuracy, reducing the risk of equipment-related nonconformances, and supporting safe, reliable field operations.

  • Daily predictable attendance
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in calibration, instrumentation, metrology, maintenance, or quality in oilfield services, power generation, manufacturing, or similar industrial environments required.
  • Working knowledge of TMMDE, such as pressure transducers, flowmeters, torque wrenches, multimeters, cable meggers, AVRs, temperature sensors, and related instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with calibration concepts, including accuracy, tolerance, uncertainty, traceability, and as-found/as-left conditions.
  • Ability to interpret calibration certificates, technical data sheets, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Proficient with digital systems and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Teams, and web-based QMS platforms).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; able to manage multiple calibration schedules and priorities simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and external calibration providers.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues, escalate when necessary, and support corrective actions.
  • Self-motivated and accountable for maintaining accurate, up-to-date records and meeting deadlines.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory/customer requirements.

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, Metrology, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with digital QMS platforms, CMMS, or asset management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the calibration register within the Digital QMS, ensuring all applicable devices are entered, current, and traceable.
  • Identifies and registers new measurement and test equipment used in operations (e.g., pressure transducers, flowmeters, torque wrenches, electronic measuring devices such as cable meggers, AVRs, multimeters, temperature probes, and other gauges).
  • Schedules, tracks, and coordinates calibration activities for in-house and third-party (external) calibration services, ensuring calibrations are performed on time.
  • Ensure third-party calibration service providers are qualified to perform the calibration per OEM or industry standards.
  • Reviews calibration certificates for completeness, accuracy, and compliance (e.g., traceability, as found/as left data, ranges, tolerances, environmental conditions).
  • Uploads and maintains calibration certificates, records, and documentation in the Digital QMS, ensuring they are correctly linked to each device in the register.
  • Ensures all calibrated devices are properly labeled/stickered with calibration status, due date, and unique identification.
  • Monitors upcoming calibration due dates and proactively communicates with stakeholders (Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Field Leadership) to minimize downtime and avoid the use of out-of-calibration equipment.
  • Initiates and documents nonconformance records within the QMS if devices are found out of tolerance, used beyond their calibration date, or otherwise non‑compliant.
  • Assists in root cause investigations related to measurement or instrumentation issues that may impact product/service quality or safety.
  • Works closely with field and maintenance personnel to ensure appropriate storage, handling, and use of calibrated equipment to maintain accuracy and prevent damage.
  • Performs visual checks and basic functional checks on measuring and test equipment before and after calibration as applicable.
  • May perform in-house verification or basic calibration tasks, as qualified and authorized, using approved standards and procedures.
  • Generates and distributes periodic calibration reports and metrics (e.g., on-time calibration rate, overdue items, out-of-tolerance findings) to the QMS Manager and Quality leadership.
  • Supports audits (internal, customer, and third-party) by providing calibration records, demonstrating QMS functionality, and explaining calibration control processes.
  • Recommends improvements to calibration processes, intervals, and device selection to enhance reliability and reduce nonconformances.
  • Assists with training or orientation of operations and maintenance personnel on calibration requirements and proper handling of measurement devices.
