Following the expansion of our US footprint with the acquisition of a new commercial-scale viral vector facility in Durham, North Carolina we have some new opportunities to join us. We’re currently recruiting for a Calibration Technician IV to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining instrumentation and control systems across GMP and non-GMP facilities. This role requires strong expertise in precision measurement science (Metrology), electronics, and process control to ensure accurate, compliant performance of all systems and instruments, playing a key part in advancing our mission and making a real difference.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a 2-year Electronics & Instrumentation program, 5-year apprenticeship, or equivalent military training.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Instrument Technician in a cGMP environment.
  • Proficiency with calibration of various parameters (flow, pressure, pH, temperature, conductivity, etc.).
  • Experience using validated CMMS systems (e.g., Blue Mountain RAM).
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics, electrical safety, and reading blueprints/technical drawings.
  • ISA CCST certification or equivalent instrumentation technical credential.
  • NFPA-70E Electrical Safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Identify and correct measurement errors; manage “Out of Tolerance” investigations and documentation.
  • Maintain configuration control and technical documentation (drawings, engineering specs, SOPs).
  • Support design, installation, and upgrades of instrumentation systems.
  • Develop, review, and improve calibration procedures for efficiency and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and technical training to junior technicians.
  • Manage vendor calibration activities, inspections, and certification documentation.
  • Support scheduling, prioritization, and documentation of calibration work orders in CMMS.
  • Recommend spare parts and tools; ensure safe, compliant use of hand and power tools.
  • Adhere to safety and GMP policies, including PPE use and Hazardous Energy Control.
