About The Position
Zuppardo’s Family Market, family owned and operated, has been a staple in the community for over 90 years, providing delicious food, great value, and exceptional service. We are looking for professional, service-oriented Bakery Clerks and Cake Decorators to help us continue that tradition. Our bakery team members are friendly, personable, reliable, energetic, and team-driven individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment. They must be detail-oriented and able to multitask while providing excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Proficiency in advanced cake decorating techniques, including borders, flowers, rosettes, writing, and layered designs
- Experience working with buttercream, whipped icing, fondant, and ganache
- Ability to smooth ice cakes, stack multi-layer cakes, and apply crumb coats and final finishes
- Skilled in using decorating tools such as piping bags, tips, spatulas, turntables, and airbrush tools
- Ability to replicate customer design requests or create custom designs for birthdays, weddings, holidays, and special events
- Strong color mixing and design skills to create visually appealing cakes
- Experience decorating cupcakes, sheet cakes, tiered cakes, and specialty desserts
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining high-quality presentation in a fast-paced bakery environment
- Strong attention to detail and consistency to meet bakery presentation standards
- Knowledge of proper cake storage, packaging, and food safety procedures
- Ability to read and follow cake order forms accurately and meet deadlines for customer pickups
- Strong time management and multitasking skills when handling multiple order
- Previous cake decorating or bakery experience preferred
- Knowledge of basic decorating techniques (piping, borders, flowers, writing)
- Creative eye for design and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift bakery items as needed
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with bakery purchases
- Take and process special cake and dessert orders
- Provide recommendations on cakes, pastries, and bakery items
- Package and label bakery items accurately
- Stock displays and ensure products are fresh and visually appealing
- Rotate products following first-in/first-out guidelines
- Assist bakers with preparation, icing, and finishing baked goods as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery work area
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
- Properly store ingredients, tools, and decorated cakes
