JOB GOAL The Cafeteria Monitor is responsible for the safety of students during their lunch/recess periods and for the orderly functioning of the cafeteria during lunch periods.

Requirements

Experience working with children is required
Successful candidate must be organized and patient
Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
Good communications skills
Good interpersonal skills
Candidates should have a passion for working with students and colleagues
Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth

Nice To Haves

Education: Associates Degree preferred but not required
Understanding of child development
Understanding of good practices for guiding and supervising students in informal settings
Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable

Responsibilities

Supervision of lunch periods at the elementary school level
Assist in the delivery of lunches
Assure the safety of students during lunch periods both inside and outside of the school building.
Assist in the cleanup of the lunch areas at the end of lunch periods.
Other duties as assigned by the building department
