Ensures the health, safety, and welfare of students in elementary school cafeterias
Requirements
Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with elementary school age children, school staff, and parents.
Nice To Haves
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Responsibilities
Supervises students in the cafeteria during lunch periods in serving lines, while eating, and during dismissal.
Maintains discipline in the cafeteria according to school policy.
Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate staff member as soon as possible.
Assists in clean up of spills/accidents.
Adheres to proper hand washing and hygiene practices.
Cleans and sanitizes lunch tables after each use.
Assists students with opening of milk cartons, condiments, etc. as needed.
Encourages students to try new foods and periodically provides nutrition education to students.
Assists students with proper disposal of food and beverages (may include collection of compostable foods when applicable).
Refills condiments, silverware, and water coolers as needed.
Cooperates with other employees, school staff, and students.
Attends educational and in-service programs and meetings as requested by the Director of School Nutrition and Building Principal.
Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
