The Cafeteria Attendant supports daily food service operations in a nursing home setting by assisting with meal preparation, serving residents and staff, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a safe, sanitary, and welcoming dining environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous food service experience preferred (healthcare or long-term care a plus)
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate attitude toward elderly and vulnerable populations
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks
Nice To Haves
- Previous food service experience preferred (healthcare or long-term care a plus)
Responsibilities
- Assist with setting up cafeteria and dining areas for meals and snacks
- Serve meals to staff in a courteous and respectful manner
- Stock food, beverages, utensils, and supplies
- Clean and sanitize tables, serving areas, kitchen equipment, and dishware
- Operate dishwashing equipment according to safety and sanitation guidelines
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control policies (including state and federal regulations)
- Dispose of waste properly and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Communicate effectively with dietary staff, nursing staff, and supervisors
- Report maintenance, safety, or sanitation concerns promptly
