About The Position

The Cafe Lead position involves developing, communicating, and implementing processes to meet business needs, collaborating with various partners, and identifying improvement opportunities. The role requires demonstrating and promoting compliance with company policies, ethics, and integrity standards, and leading teams by coordinating work, providing feedback, and adapting to change. As a Team Leader, the Cafe Lead supervises the cafe team to deliver on business plans, communicate department goals, execute company programs, and advocate for members, associates, and the company. The Lead acts as an Expert by maintaining in-depth knowledge of cafe operations, ensuring compliance with quality, inventory, production, sanitation, equipment, and safety standards. This includes managing seasonality, understanding new products and recipes, and training the team. The Cafe Lead is also a Techie, leveraging digital tools and handheld technology to drive sales, improve the shopping experience, elevate associate engagement, and make immediate business decisions. As an Owner, the role drives business results, ensures operational excellence, plans for profitability, maintains a safe work area, ensures appropriate staffing, manages audits, displays merchandise, and collaborates with other departments and third-party partners for operational continuity. Finally, as a Talent Ambassador, the Cafe Lead teaches and trains the team, identifies training needs, develops skills, encourages career growth, and sources new talent. Requirements

  • 6 months experience in a fresh production department or 6 months experience supervising a team
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Successfully complete all job required trainings and assessments within a prescribed time period

  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of business on the floor and backroom operations
  • Ensures the cafe area meets company and regulatory standards for quality, inventory, production, sanitation, equipment usage, safety, and compliance
  • Manages seasonality in terms of production, understanding new products, recipes, processes, and production specifications
  • Collaborates with associates and third parties, ensuring the team has resources to do their job effectively, sharing knowledge and training the team
  • Leverages digital tools to plan for and drive sales, improve the shopping experience, and elevate associate engagement
  • Utilizes handheld technology to make immediate business decisions related to production, training, and product quality
  • Adopts new tools and encourages others to use them
  • Drives the business results ensuring commitment to operational excellence and planning for profitability
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and safe work area in the cafe
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels and accurate audit and compliance standards
  • Produces and displays merchandise according to the merchandise layout plan
  • Engages with other departments and third-party business partners (e.g., maintenance personnel, suppliers, equipment vendors) to ensure operational continuity
  • Teaches and trains the team by identifying training needs, providing and developing necessary skills to deliver high quality products to the members
  • Encourages career growth for team members and sourcing new talent internally and externally to work on the team
