Cafe Food & Beverage Specialist
About The Position
The Tortuga Café Food & Beverage Specialist plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of Tortuga Café. This position requires the Specialist to manage a customers’ orders from start to finish while maintaining a presentable and positive appearance given the open nature of the kitchen. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for service, the ability to learn food notes and prepare dishes to standard, strong math skills for cash handling, and the ability to upsell menu items effectively. Founded in 1983, Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a leading cultural attraction in South Florida that provides open access to all guests. Today, the Center is a global leader in the research, rehabilitation, and protection of sea turtles, serving our broader mission to promote ocean ecosystem conservation. Annually we reach 900,000 guests with our transformational education programs and partner with nearly 100 organizations across six continents and 16 countries in ocean conservation. In early 2022, we opened a new 27,500 square-foot campus that greatly expands our exhibition, education, and convening space and doubles our medical facilities.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or hospitality
- Previous experience as a barista is
- Familiarity with food handling practices and sanitation standards is a
- Strong math skills, including basic math and retail math, are essential for cash handling
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques is
- A friendly demeanor with excellent communication skills to help create a positive atmosphere for
- Good organizational and time management
Responsibilities
- Conducts all opening and closing (Opens and closes cash tills, kitchen cleaning, etc.)
- Greet customers warmly and take orders
- Operate POS register for food and
- Handle cash transactions accurately, ensuring proper change is
- Prepare food and beverages according to established recipes and
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the snack bar area in compliance with health
- Clean and restock foods, beverages, condiments, and other
- Washes and dries dishes, glasses, and other cooking/food prep
- Assist with inventory management, including restocking supplies as
- Utilize basic math skills to perform retail math calculations for
- Upsell menu items to enhance customer experience and increase
- Help customers by answering questions about items from the menu and making
