About The Position

Under the direct leadership of the retail manager, the barista/cashier is responsible for preparing quality drinks accurately and consistently with a commitment to providing excellent customer service The Barista will take and process guest’s orders correctly and accept payment. Interact with guests in a friendly, knowledgeable and polite manner. Act in a professional and trustworthy manner. Call guests by their name when their drinks are ready. Describe and sell products and retail merchandise. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Mathematical skills are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a barista and in the care/usage of a cash register and in cash handling is preferred
  • Prior experience in Retail or Institutional Food Services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
  • Operating Point of Sale system and cash handling including daily deposits.
  • Preparing, grinding, and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and serving items to customers.
  • Packaging food and beverages for sale.
  • Selling coffee and tea blends and other goods, highlighting the differences between items and educating customers about menu items.
  • Cleaning and restocking work areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils.
  • Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
  • Updating signage and displays to attract customers.
  • Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
  • Working in as part of a high-energy team.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
