Requirements

  • Requires a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and 84 months of related experience as a CAE Engineer or related position
  • The required experience must include performing finite element analysis using tools like Hypermesh, Abaqus, and LS-Dyna to analyze complex components, sub-assemblies, and systems, drawing engineering conclusions.
  • Simulate system responses using both linear and nonlinear methods.
  • Utilize CAE tools such as Hyperwork, Optimization/Optistruct, Ansa, FEMFAT, Ansys, and GoM, and engage in CAE process automation with advanced AI and ML tools, including LLMs.
  • Experience with exterior product lines, including front and rear fascia, bumper systems, rocker panels, side trims, sills, and flares, as well as modules like automatic running boards, closures, liftgate, tailgate, doors, and spoilers, is essential.
  • Proficiency in CAE material modeling for plastics, including thermal plastic resin, fiber-reinforced composites, carbon-fiber materials, and polypropylene, using Digimat, is required.
  • Design tools for thermoplastic injection molded parts, including mold-flow, gates, manifolds, and cooling lines.
  • Provide resource management to run a lean and efficient team, delivering effective solutions for all commodities and tools.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and programs to provide cost-effective CAE solutions on demand.
  • Integrate CAE solutions into the broader spectrum of engineering solutions during both digital and physical program phases.
  • Enhance CAE and engineering operations through process automation using the latest software tools and AI/ML technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the CAE department, ensuring all analysis projects are planned, resourced, and executed in alignment with program objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Assign and monitor tasks for CAE Engineers and Analysts, providing guidance on technical priorities, analysis methods, and project sequencing to meet deliverable milestones.
  • Review and approve engineering analysis plans, ensuring compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and the product delivery process.
  • Evaluate analysis results prepared by team members, validate methodologies, and provide strategic recommendations for design improvements to senior engineering leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination with design, testing, and program management teams to align CAE activities with overall engineering and product development strategies.
  • Establish and maintain CAE process documentation, best practice guidelines, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
  • Manage the department’s software tools, licenses, and computing resources, including Hypermesh, Abaqus, and LS-Dyna, ensuring proper utilization and training.
  • Mentor, train, and develop CAE staff, conducting performance evaluations and identifying skill gaps to support professional growth and succession planning.
  • Oversee the development of CAE quotes, project timelines, and technical presentations for customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of scope and requirements.
  • Track and report departmental performance metrics, proactively identifying and addressing resource constraints, workflow bottlenecks, or quality concerns.
  • Represent the CAE department in high-level customer meetings, technical reviews, and program status updates, serving as the primary liaison for CAE related matters.
