In this position you will promote GM's values and consider the customer's needs in material characterization and material card development! Advanced Materials Technology & Virtualization CAE Material Technical Specialists are critical for advanced material, process, and performance innovation for Product Engineering, Virtual Design Development Validation (VDDV)/Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), and Manufacturing to improve/optimize product performance and manufacturing robustness. Supporting both Product Teams and VDDV/CAE Organizations you will create brand-new products and tools through efficient and innovative use of materials and computational analysis. You will collaborate with a high-performance cross-functional team of engineers supporting battery, propulsion, and vehicle and will directly impact the quality, durability and performance of future hybrid, plug-in and battery electric vehicles manufactured by GM. This position requires sound technical knowledge and expertise related to the functional area of computational methods and material card development, to implementing Fracture Models used in crash simulations and Material Characterization of ferrous and non-ferrous metallic alloys and joining. You will need prior experience and/or knowledge of material characterization, material selection, computational mechanics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) & modeling, data analysis, project initiation/management/execution. Supports leading new processes and methods in line with departmental goals. Translates business objectives to meaningful work for the group.
