This position will also maintain printing and plotting CADD resources.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Concepts, terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of engineering specialty area.
  • The department’s CADD software and CADD standards.
  • Skilled in: Using PC-based work-processing, spreadsheet, graphics, database software.
  • Ability to: Make presentations.
  • Plan and organize work assignments.
  • Effectively communicate technical information verbally and in writing.
  • Deal with internal and external customers in a courteous manner.
  • Identify needs and develop effective CADD training.
  • Access input and retrieve information from a computer database.
  • Handle multiple tasks.

  • Analyze and interpret data and solve technical problems.
  • Install software in a stand-alone PC workstation or Local Arean Network (LAN) environment.
  • Analyze and interpret engineering concepts and data.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Become or remain proficient in and effectively support the FDOT CADD software suite and digital delivery process.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) production and electronic plans processes, Electronic Review Comments (ERC), Project Suite Enterprise Edition (PSEE), and delivery for the District.
  • Assists with the implementation of guidelines for processing electronic projects, including implementation and enforcement of CADD Standards.
  • Coordinates with consultants with issues that are related to software on FDOT projects to help ensure their deliveries meet the standards and expectations of the Department.
  • Develops and maintains CADD management and engineering data services as defined in the FDOT Engineering/CADD System procedure.
  • Maintains printing and plotting CADD resources.
  • Coordinates with the Specialized Applications Supervisor in reference to CADD printer/plotter needs.
  • Troubleshoot any CADD related printing/plotting problems.
  • Maintains the Technical Information Management System (TIMS) for archive of electronic transportation design plans files.
  • Manage and maintain a process for Quality Control of electronic CADD files to verify they meet the requirements of CADD Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains the electronic work flow for District project files, including chain of custody tracking.
  • Coordinates training activities with Central Office and the District Training Managers for CADD users providing training classes for applications such as Microstation, Geopak, etc.
  • Works directly with users in reference to questions about how to perform certain tasks within the application.
  • Participates in scheduling of both instructor‐led and the management of users of technology based training.
  • Promotes technology based training resources amongst CADD users.
  • Serves as a technical advisor to CADD Technical Advisory Committees (TAC’s) and assists with the resolution of CADD application and policy issues of statewide impact.
  • Participates in District and statewide Engineering/CADD teleconferences, workshops, meetings and Graphics User Group training.
  • Participates in District production meetings and workshops to remain current on production issues and projects.
  • Coordinates with District CADD users to promote and share information, ideas and to maintain a framework of input for policy/procedure modifications.
  • Provide support for the Digital Deliverable process.
  • Provide feedback to units when erroneous or problematic data is submitted.
  • Ensures the District is complying to the CADD standards.
