About The Position

The CAD Manager at NE Tech Air is a leadership role focused on building and maintaining high-quality drawings that are crucial for project success. This position is for someone who is proactive in setting standards, improving processes, and making a real impact on projects. NE Tech Air designs and builds HVAC systems for critical spaces like schools, hospitals, and labs across New England. The role emphasizes ownership, accountability, and the opportunity to lead a team effectively, ensuring that every drawing supports the field operations and keeps projects moving forward efficiently. The ideal candidate will lead daily operations, manage team workloads, coordinate with project managers, and ensure quality control.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of CAD drafting experience in HVAC, mechanical, or construction environments
  • 2+ years leading or supervising a CAD team
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and discipline-specific CAD tools
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents and shop drawings
  • Experience supporting schedule-driven construction projects
  • Proven ability to manage standards and quality control
  • Strong communication skills with project managers, engineers, and field teams

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school, associate degree, or formal CAD training
  • Industry certifications related to CAD or BIM

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily CAD operations and balance team workloads
  • Run quick team check-ins to align priorities
  • Coordinate weekly with project managers on schedules
  • Maintain and enforce CAD standards and templates
  • Review drawings before release to prevent rework
  • Track CAD hours and flag risks early
  • Remove workflow and technical bottlenecks
  • Train and develop your CAD team
