About The Position

Summary/Objective The CAD Designer is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed technical drawings and 3D models to support product design, manufacturing, and engineering initiatives. This role collaborates closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure accurate documentation and efficient product development. Essential Functions Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software and communicate any edits or changes to impacted individuals. Create detailed drawings and inspection sheets of components and assemblies for manufacturing. Work closely with manufacturing to create and modify routings and BOM’s needed to manufacture parts to our current best practices. Create new part numbers for Sales. Develop detailed designs and drawings for customized customer orders. Generate all necessary documentation to effectively implement ECN’s. Review, research and implement change requests (ECR’s) that come from various sources. Assist in the identification of parts and material types when needed for production. Provide technical assistance to internal customers as required. Help troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes. Help evaluate incoming RFQ's for manufacturability, technical applicability, and exceptions. Reverse engineer customer parts by taking measurements and generating sketches and drawings. Work Environment and Physical Demands Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing/office environment. Must be able to operate a computer/keyboard, ability to use phone, and sit for extended periods of time. Communicate using speech, hearing, written, and vision skills. Will often be on the production floor requiring the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to- safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes. The standard working hours for exempt employees are set at 45 hours per week with an additional 30-minute lunch break every day. General business hours are 6:30 am- 5:00 pm. this position follows a specific work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 am- 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet business demands. Travel Rare: 0-5% Compensation Our current hiring pay range for this position is $70,000-$90,000. This hiring pay range is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, work experience, knowledge, skills and certifications. In addition to this base pay, Rockford Ball Screw employees are eligible for a bonus. Depending on your position you may be categorized into different tiers in the quarterly or annual bonus plan. Minimum of an associate degree in Mechanical Design or Engineering Technology or 5 years working in an engineering environment on the essential functions listed above. Experience generating detailed manufacturing drawings to ANSI Y14.1 and Y14.5 standards. Experience in Solidworks CAD software, creating 3D models and assemblies as well as 2D mechanical drawings. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (i.e. blueprints). Preferred and Experience Ability to plan, organize and implement multiple concurrent tasks. 3+ years generating detailed mechanical engineering drawings. 3+ years w ECN’s. Knowledge of inspection tools and techniques for measuring parts. Experience with MRP/ERP software for generating BOMs and Basic Routings. Preference of INFOR XA PowerLink.
