About this Role We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for supporting multiple product lines. These positions will be responsible for realizing the design and documentation for multiple cutting-edge development programs for defense applications domestically and internationally. As a CAD Designer, you will work with teams and products that directly support our service men and women who engage in combat operations around the world. An ideal candidate will possess a broad knowledge base in mechanical design, unit-level integration, and be able to execute in both R&D and production environments. Required experience includes hardware design, including modeling and documentation, and successfully working within a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Drafting and Design Technology, or 4 years relevant experience as a mechanical designer
  • Ability to visualize components and assemblies in 3D.
  • Solid working knowledge of drafting principles.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14 series of standards.
  • Working knowledge and use of ASME Y14.5-1994 (Dimensioning and Tolerancing) applications and fundamentals.
  • Experience with mechanism development, prototyping, and packaging.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use computer-aided design tools is required; Siemens NX strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including preparation of design documentation.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Active Secret Clearance preferred; Secret eligibility required.
  • Desire and ability to operate in a team environment is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Military hardware design and integration experience preferred.
  • Experience in a DoD environment and model-based systems engineering are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop imaginative, thorough, practicable technical solutions to a wide range of difficult Mechanical Design problems.
  • Perform detailed design of electro-mechanical devices, equipment and subsystems including modeling, drafting, and tolerance analysis in direct collaboration with an integrated engineering team.
  • Prepare high-quality formal engineering documentation (layouts, drawings, 3D models, parts lists, Engineering Change Notices, (ECN’s), vendor parts, etc.) per ASME Y14.100 and MIL-Spec standards.
