The Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) Designer will be responsible for using CAD software to develop layouts, drawings, artwork and designs that meet engineering specifications, which are used by production to fabricate medical and commercial products for the organization. The successful candidate will participate in a high-level Quality System with new and existing designs and development projects and an emphasis on optimization and accuracy to the existing Design and Development System.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience as a Computer-Aided Drafting Designer
  • ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 experience
  • Fluent in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software (i.e., Uni-Graphics, Pro-Engineer, SolidEdge, etc.)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with others across various disciplines
  • Communicates well verbally, diagrammatically, and in writing
  • Creativity, innovation and attention to detail
  • Associates Degree: AS in a technical or engineering related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to consistently achieve short- and long-term business results
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks when needed
  • Ability to follow through on commitments and holds team members accountable
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and ERP and other business related systems

Nice To Haves

  • Continuing Education; including participation in local chapters, associations, and/or organizations
  • Certifications through industry recoginzed CAD software such as CSWA, CSWP, and CSWE
  • Experience in sheet metal design and fabrication processes
  • Experience in sterillization and processes for medical devices

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of design layouts, drawings, artwork and any applicable documentation necessary to release new and existing medical and commercial products
  • Support internal and external design changes through the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
  • Support CAPA investigations related to Design and Development systems and customer complaints
  • Assist in the research and implementation of CAD related software
  • Manufacturing efficiency through accurate designs and the utilization of existing tooling whenever possible
  • Subject matter expert in: CAD Software
  • Partners with the other business segments: sales/marketing, customer service, engineering, quality, and finance
  • Understands customer needs and the core business markets we serve
  • Participates in required company meetings
  • Maintains an organized work area (5S)
  • Participates in the Operational Excellence Program
  • Supports and complies with the company's Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
  • Completes all other work duties as assigned
