About The Position

While operating a computer­aided design (CAD) system, prepares layout and design of technical project data. Product design specialization required (e.g. electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings, and BOM generation and management for both, etc.). From data, sketches and red-lined drawings formulates design concept, calculates and verifies specifications, and determines unspecified tolerances and dimensions to establish requirements for capacities, materials, performance, construction type, etc. Well-versed in drawing revision management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• SolidWorks and AutoCAD certification required
• 5+ years of designing/drafting, PDM and ERP experience, or related technical experience or education.
• Read and understand 2D and 3D mechanical drawings
• Read and understand the wiring diagram layout and symbols

Nice To Haves

• PDM (product data management) and ERP (enterprise resource planning) certification/experience are highly desired

Responsibilities

• Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications
• Review design layouts to find and resolve problems involving compatibility with basic design concepts
• Create and update PDM database of design records for future reference purposes
• Create and manage BOMs for both mechanical and electrical designs
• Participate in engineering and manufacturing design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations
• Make corrections to the drawings as requested by the Engineering staff
• Work with other teams to obtain reference information for drawings
• Work with the project team to execute projects on time and on budget
• Work with the engineering and manufacturing teams to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs
• Provide alternative design concepts to meet customer requirements
