About The Position

CAD Designer II applies engineering, operational, ergonomic, and architectural principles to the design of commercial kitchens and their buildings/structures. Responsible for creating operational layouts, equipment selection, rough-in design, specification drawings, existing condition drawings, and related details. Provides guidance to more junior designers and/or drafters as needed, and technical support to others as needed. Maintains familiarity and up-to-date knowledge of a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Requirements

  • General Office Computer and Software Skills:
  • Working knowledge of general PC terminology, navigation, and tools.
  • Windows 10 proficiency required
  • Intermediate MS Office knowledge in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate operational knowledge of Google software suite
  • Design Software Environment Skills:
  • Required advanced level of knowledge or greater of CAD design software, including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Revit
  • Required basic level of knowledge or greater of laser scanning processes, point cloud registration, processing, and exporting and the associated hardware and software knowledge
  • Preferred basic level of knowledge or greater of CAD designer software including but not limited to: Vault, 3dsMax, Dynamo, AutoLISP, Inventor, Bluebeam, Vray
  • Optional basic level of knowledge or greater of Adobe Designer Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat
  • Intermediate Design: Ability to read and understand blueprints, specification sheets, and technical documents related to product information. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, 2D and 3D drawings and 3D models. Operational knowledge of restaurant procedures and practices, and the equipment and skills needed to perform various tasks within a restaurant environment.
  • Intermediate Utility Design: Intermediate knowledge of utility requirements regarding electrical, plumbing, HVAC, gas, and other building systems in domestic and international configurations. Basic level of ability to size conduit, as well as calculate and balance loads of various trades
  • Intermediate Project Management: Intermediate ability to manage multiple projects of various scope, budget, schedule, and size at a time. Communication and coordination with various teams to ensure projects remain on task in a fast-paced environment within predefined company parameters.
  • Intermediate Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Intermediate Communication Skills - Ability to communicate and understand customer and sales team requirements with clarity and efficiency. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to demonstrate at high level of confidence with the customer base. Maintain honest and ethical methods.
  • Intermediate Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Advanced Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Intermediate Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of AutoCAD work experience or 1 year AutoCAD work experience and certification in AutoCAD 2016 or greater.
  • Minimum 3 years of Revit work experience or 1 year Revit work experience and certification in Revit 2016 or greater certification.
  • Minimum 2 years prior work experience in the foodservice industry preferred.
  • Prior work experience and/or certification in Autodesk Vault and Inventor preferred.
  • Prior work experience and/or certification with Vray, 3dsMax, and/or Adobe design software suite preferred
  • Prior work experience and/or certification with point clouds and laser scanning preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares scale remodel and new construction kitchen proposal drawings, documentation, 3D models, and 2D plans for review by customer for operational consideration.
  • Prepares scale existing condition (as-built) drawings, documentation, 3D models and 2D plans by converting data collected on-site by advanced site capturing methods including but not limited to: laser scanning, point clouds, asset data information, photos, and floor plan sketches.
  • Prepares scale equipment specification drawings outlining concepts, configurations and details for review by customer for operational, engineering, and manufacturing approval .
  • Plots drawings for internal and external project consultants, team members, owners, and stakeholders.
  • Maintains strict CAD drawing standards.
  • Logs drawings and database entries as required.
  • Participates in team discussions to ensure team alignment and group consensus on SOPs and WI’s.
  • Coordinates kitchen layouts with external consultants of all trades and other areas of expertise.
  • Works with local municipalities to ensure drawings meet local codes when necessary.
  • Coordinates projects with external and internal sales teams to ensure drawings are completed on schedule per customer's requirements.
  • Interacts frequently with internal and external customers throughout the design and development process.
  • Maintains existing relationships, and promotes new relationships with internal and external customers, consultants, installers, contractors, and AHJ.
  • Technical liaison of equipment, layouts and operations for external contractors, architects, installers and AHJ.
  • Participates in development and maintenance of symbol libraries and drawing templates for all accounts in all drawing platforms as required.
  • Performs quality control review on account contracts and quotations.
  • Performs quality control review of drawings as required.
  • May participate in the development, creation, and coordination of design criteria media, visualizations, and documentation as required through renderings, animations, elevations, sections, and isometric views.
  • May create and/or define rendering materials, textures, and maps to be used in visualizations and documentation.
  • May participate in the development and maintenance of department SOPs and WIs.
  • Creates and maintains workload priorities and project deadlines for self and other team members as needed.
  • May mentor, coach, teach and lead others, as needed.
  • Reliable attendance is required.
