About The Position

As part of the Water Design Center (WDC) in Greenville, South Carolina, the CAD (Civil 3D) Technician - Pipelines will be responsible for developing civil engineering designs in support of various water/wastewater pipeline projects for Garver’s Water Business Line. Diversity in high-volume custom projects will allow this designer the opportunity to be hands-on with detailed design, collaborate with teams of designers and engineers and produce high-quality work in a rapidly growing business line. The Civil Technician will provide civil engineering technical and design support as required for a variety of projects related primarily to developing pipeline corridor design plans and profiles. Other projects may include pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, and other ancillary structures associated with water and sewer infrastructure projects as well as other civil engineering related projects. The designer will be tasked with modeling, layout and profiling of piping networks and plans using gravity and pressure networks with Civil 3D. Other tasks may include other site/civil related design work as assigned. The civil technician will be responsible for coordination with other support discipline activities, other designers and engineers, quantity estimating, and quality assurance and control. Requirements

High school diploma
4+ years' experience with Civil 3D
Must have strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Nice To Haves

Experience using Autodesk software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D
2+ years experience in civil engineering design
Associates Degree in CAD or similar 2-year degree
Experience with BIM file sharing software
Experience using REVIT
Previous experience of designs, plans, and specifications for water and wastewater projects
Experience using Bluebeam and MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and Outlook
Strong teaching and coaching skills to bring new team members up to speed

Responsibilities

Coordination of survey services
Developing detailed plans and details
Quality program compliance: ensuring delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standardization.
Civil standards and tools development, procurement, and training
Accurately complete drawings based on markups and detailed direction
Organizing drawing structures and files based on company standards
Adhering to layering standards, line types, line widths, and plot styles
Generating plan and profile drawings complete with station numbering
Utilizing gravity and pressure pipe networks
Developing cross sections
Calculating volume and plan quantities
Reading and taking information from as-built drawings to develop existing condition models
Generating coordinates, boundary information, and survey information
Being consistent in design procedures across a variety of projects, producing record drawings
