About The Position

Independence Excavating is seeking a Civil CAD Technician to join our expanding team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed drawings and coordinating the development of roadway base map surveys. You’ll also gain exposure to a variety of site civil projects, assisting with preliminary designs, construction documents, and other related tasks. What do we believe in? Requirements

Proficient in AutoCAD and Earthwork 3D software
Highly task-oriented with strong energy and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, especially under tight deadlines
Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn, with a high level of trainability
Willingness to travel occasionally as needed

Nice To Haves

Experience in civil site development, including volume land calculations, 2D and 3D area computations, isopachs, tick maps, grading plans, and roadway design is a strong plus
Basic ability to interpret record utility drawings, generate site contours, and utilize field survey points when available
Familiarity with Trimble Business Center is a plus

Responsibilities

Prepare technical drawings and coordinate the development of roadway base map surveys, with exposure to various site civil projects including preliminary plans and construction documents
Interpret construction drawings and specifications for commercial projects to calculate quantities for bid proposals
Use digitizing software to create 3D models for accurate earthwork quantity estimations
Analyze soil boring reports to assess potential impacts on production
Identify utility materials required based on project drawings and specifications
Communicate any discrepancies or issues encountered during bid preparation to the Estimator
Assist Surveyors in generating GPS data for automated field equipment
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned
