About The Position

Fabuwood is looking for a skilled CAD Production Drafter / Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings, 3D models, detailed part breakdowns, and machine-ready files for manufacturing. You’ll serve as the vital link between design and production, collaborating closely with project managers, CNC operators, and cabinet makers to translate complex custom designs into high-quality, buildable products. Schedule: Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm and Friday 7:30am-12:00pm

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in a CAD drafting, millwork engineering, or production design role.
  • Strong command of 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar).
  • Ability to produce accurate, buildable shop drawings from architectural and conceptual inputs.
  • Understanding of cabinet construction methods, custom woodworking techniques, and joinery.
  • Familiarity with CNC manufacturing processes and nesting for panel processing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage projects from concept to production.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of hardware specification and installation (BLUM, Häfele, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preparing CNC programs or working with CAM/Nesting software.
  • Familiarity with architectural drawing review, markups, and redlines.
  • Experience working on high-end residential or commercial custom cabinetry projects.
  • Hands-on experience in fabrication or cabinet installation is a strong plus.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed shop drawings, part lists, and engineering documents based on architectural plans, field measurements, or concept sketches.
  • Create and manage machine-ready files for CNC production (including DXF, nested panel layouts, and toolpath-ready outputs).
  • Translate complex custom cabinetry and millwork designs into buildable components.
  • Work closely with project managers and production leads to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Specify hardware and accessories using industry-standard systems.
  • Maintain drawing and part libraries and assist in standardization of construction methods.
  • Participate in design reviews and help resolve technical issues during fabrication.
