About The Position

TEKsystems is hiring Cable Technicians to support structured cabling projects in the Knoxville area. This role is hands-on and focused on installing, pulling, and terminating copper and fiber cabling for commercial and municipal environments. Technicians will work on projects that include office buildings, healthcare facilities, and utility infrastructure. Technicians will be responsible for routing cable through conduit, trays, and risers, terminating copper and fiber connections, and performing testing and certification using industry-standard tools. Additional tasks may include assisting with fiber splicing and outside/inside plant installations, following TIA/EIA and BICSI standards, and ensuring fire-stop compliance and safety protocols.

  • Troubleshooting
  • Wireless access point
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in active construction environments.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment.
  • Basic understanding of low-voltage systems, electrical safety, and structured cabling standards.
  • Strong attention to detail for terminations, labeling, and documentation.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally for projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism when interacting with clients and site supervisors.
  • Willingness to learn advanced fiber techniques and grow within the telecom industry.
