Communications Technician I & II – Data Center New Construction Role Summary We are seeking Communications Technician II candidates with OSP experience who can lead teams installing 4" Microduct in a fast-paced new construction environment. This role requires strong technical capability, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. Shifts Available: 1st Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM 2nd Shift: 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM Flexibility is preferred as schedules vary based on project needs. We are hiring Communications Technicians (Tech I & Tech II) to support large‑scale data center new construction projects. These roles offer strong long-term career opportunities in structured cabling, fiber installation, and OSP work. What You’ll Do (Tech II Focus) As a Communications Technician II, you will serve as a lead member of the installation team and be responsible for overseeing small crews, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring project timelines are met. Technical Responsibilities Pull and install 4" Microduct to project labeling and quality standards. Perform cable testing including continuity, tone and trace, volt‑ohmmeter usage, and troubleshooting of opens, shorts, crosses, or transposed pairs. Identify active voice and data circuits. Work safely and effectively in a construction environment. Leadership & Documentation Lead small groups of installers and provide on‑the‑job training. Coordinate daily crew tasks to meet production goals. Complete required documentation such as timesheets, work orders, material transfers, change orders, and tool transfers. Follow all required safety and quality procedures. What You’ll Do (Tech I Overview) Tech I positions are entry‑level (some technical training preferred) and involve supporting cabling installation, assisting senior technicians, and learning to perform testing and troubleshooting. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces. Lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs. Distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals. Travel within the regional territory when needed. Regular and reliable attendance is mandatory.
