About The Position

TEKsystems is seeking Cable Technicians to support structured cabling projects throughout the Knoxville, TN area. This is a hands‑on role focused on installing, pulling, routing, and terminating both copper and fiber cabling in commercial, industrial, and municipal environments. Project sites may include office buildings, healthcare facilities, and utility infrastructure.

  • Ability to work independently and within team environments on active construction job sites.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment.
  • Basic understanding of low-voltage systems, structured cabling, and electrical safety.
  • Strong attention to detail for labeling, documentation, and high‑quality terminations.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally to various project locations.
  • Professional communication skills and ability to interact with clients, site supervisors, and team members.
  • Willingness to learn advanced cabling and fiber techniques and continue developing within the telecom industry.

Responsibilities

  • Install, pull, and route cabling through conduits, trays, risers, and other pathways.
  • Terminate Cat5/Cat6 copper and fiber optic connections using industry‑standard methods.
  • Perform cable testing, certification, labeling, and documentation.
  • Assist with fiber splicing, OSP/ISP pathways, and additional structured cabling tasks as needed.
  • Follow TIA/EIA, BICSI, and site‑specific standards to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Maintain fire-stop compliance and adhere to all safety protocols on active construction sites.
  • Support installation of devices such as wireless access points and low-voltage hardware.
