About The Position

The Field Service Technician will perform both in-shop and on-site service work, supporting customer equipment installations, maintenance, and repairs. This role involves troubleshooting technical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the long-term reliability of customer infrastructure. The technician will serve as a key liaison between customers and the company, delivering high-quality service and technical support in the field.

Requirements

  • Basic experience or exposure to low-voltage cabling and telecommunications environments.
  • Familiarity with Cat5/Cat6 cabling, cable pulling, punch-downs, rack-and-stack, and cable installation.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous in-field customer service or technical support experience preferred.
  • Ability to read schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in basic math and able to complete simple calculations.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and Internet use).
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Industry-related training or experience considered in lieu of formal education
  • Drug Test - No THC testing
  • BG Check & DMV
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean or minimally violated driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites, including overnight travel
  • Must be at least 18 years old to operate a company vehicle
  • Ability and willingness to operate a forklift (training provided as applicable)

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or a related field
  • Basic electrical knowledge and experience using test equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on customer equipment, including flooded and sealed batteries, chargers, and DC power distribution systems (cable trays, battery racks, and power cables).
  • Install equipment at customer facilities to ensure proper operation according to specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections on batteries, chargers, and battery-handling equipment; accurately document and record data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing on-site technical assistance as needed.
  • Replace defective components, reassemble batteries, and fuse lead parts using appropriate tools.
  • Measure and determine battery solution specific gravity.
  • Water, wash, clean, and neutralize batteries at customer locations.
  • Download and analyze battery and charger data using monitoring devices to support diagnostics and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and service documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
  • Conduct and assist with training on safe equipment operation for both team members and customers.
  • Work in environments such as cell site lockers located at the base of structures.
