Cable Cutter
About The Position
Is responsible for supplying Fiber and/or Copper cable to support the production work cells by performing the duties involved in receiving, stocking and issuing cable. This position works under moderate supervision. Essential Functions · Supports production work cells by pulling and cutting all cable materials necessary to complete shop orders · Measures and cuts cable to required length using hand tools and/or cable cutting machine · Communicates with cell lead and assemblers to determine schedule of work for pulling materials · Systematically issue raw material to work orders · Organizes material racks as needed for optimum efficiency · Responsible for cable inventory accuracy · Perform periodically cycle count of cable material · Comply with all established safety procedures and policies
Requirements
- Minimum three months related experience and/or training
- Must possess basic computer skills
- Ability to take an active role in recommending and implementing continuous improvements in production
- Ability to use judgment related to identifying potential safety hazards
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, production assembly machine operations, and/or walking and assisting production employees
- Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn
- Eye and foot protection may have to be worn
- Lifting of weights up to 30 pounds may occur regularly, with a potential for lifting weights of up to 45 pounds on an occasional basis
- There is potential exposure to extreme temperatures
- The occasional physical demands of the position include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination
