About The Position

The Cabinet Shop Lead provides guidance and training to the team and specializes in programming, setting up, and operating CNC routers to produce precision wood components. This role requires proficiency in Mastercam software to generate accurate toolpaths and drawings. Expertise with a variety of woodworking tools including saws, drills, and other shop equipment, is crucial. As a CNC Router Operator, the Lead is responsible for reading and interpreting engineering prints, executing production runs, and ensuring quality and efficiency in all assigned projects for the Team. The Lead is instrumental in fostering a positive work environment, mentoring and developing the proficiency of the Technicians. As a strong leader that sets the example, enabling the team to deliver high-quality, customized transportation solutions that meet the diverse needs of customers while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of technical training or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role or demonstrated experience in cross-functional work, team collaboration, mentorship, training, initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience as a CNC router, Programing toolpaths, and Mastercam software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective training and interaction with team members and other departments
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues during production and implement effective solutions
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage workflows, schedules, and team dynamics efficiently
  • Ability to perform complex subassembly process to ensure work orders are complete in timely manner.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and read/use a measuring tape
  • Personal tools not required

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of experience with CNC Operations, Mastercam software.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a Wood Shop environment.
  • Familiarity with wood materials, and understanding which materials are best for each project.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA workplace safety standards, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives
  • Experience in an ISO 9000/9001 environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Provides guidance and support to technicians; Fosters a collaborative and productive work environment; Technical advisor for team, management, and customers
  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for new and existing technicians; Ensures technicians are knowledgeable about subassembly processes9=-, safety protocols, and quality standards
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities for process enhancements; Collaborates with management to implement changes that improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing production needs and schedules; Work Order Completion: Manages multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing work to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards; Collaborates with team members and flexes daily duties as needed to support overall shop operations; Operates CNC router and related woodworking equipment (saws, drills, sanders, etc.) safely and effectively; Develop and Maintain work order schedule to maintain multiple value stream.
  • CNC Operations: Reads and interprets engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately program and execute CNC router operations; Programs Mastercam toolpaths and drawings to optimize efficiency and accuracy in machining wood components.
  • Alignment: Applies a continuous improvement mindset by streamlining processes, identifying efficiencies, and improving workflow; Meets regularly with key partners to ensure that orders are prioritized properly and that schedule is being met.
  • Customization: Programs Mastercam toolpaths and drawings to optimize efficiency and accuracy in machining wood components for customized orders.
  • Quality Assurance: Performs inspections throughout the production process to ensure proper fit, finish, alignment, functionality, and that all components meet quality and safety standards, including testing systems and ensuring that the final product is free from defects
  • Troubleshooting: Identifies problems and implement solutions quickly in the event of production issues or customer complaints Troubleshoots issues with machinery, programs, or tooling to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Documentation: Keeps accurate records of completed work, production processes, modifications, and inspections to adhere to quality standards and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Safety Compliance: Adheres to all safety regulations and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety training programs; Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment in alignment with 5S principles.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborates with other technicians, engineers, fabricators, welders, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow, timely completion of projects, and adherence to quality standards
  • Continuous Learning: Stays updated with industry trends, technology, and best practices related to CNC Router, Mastercam, and other relevant industry knowledge for cabinet shop; Proactively shares knowledge with the team.
