Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the C.N.A. provides basic patient care to a group of assigned patients, considering needs specific to the standard of care for the patient's age. This role demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization, applying good interpersonal and communication processes utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills to achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment. The C.N.A. is accountable to licensed nurses, Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, and/or Orthopedic Service Line Director. The position involves demonstrating and promoting compliance with infection control, legal, and safety standards, and displaying professional commitment by supporting the unit team through promoting unity, teamwork, a positive attitude, and positive working relationships. The C.N.A. organizes and prioritizes care based on patient needs, module activities, and other commitments, and is responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Performance Improvement Program through various quality activities. Utilizing the plan of care, the C.N.A. assists the licensed nurse in data collection and documents appropriately to hospital standards.
