Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently looking for an Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team in Long Beach, CA applying Engineering knowledge/principles, tools, and techniques to a continuing series of upgrades and improvements to the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. Avionics Systems Engineering position for the C-17 Military Airlifter Program within the Avionics/Flight Management & Software Engineering organization, located in Long Beach, California. Changes in Avionics technology require continuous upgrade and engineering evaluation of present/future capability. As an Avionics Systems Engineer, the selected candidate will rapidly integrate into the team and apply an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis, design, development, system level test/verification and validation of the C-17 Flight Management System (FMS). In addition, the candidate will apply job principles, theories, and concepts to contribute to the field investigations and new capability development for the C-17. Tasks will broaden upon candidate’s knowledge in aviation, including areas such as navigation and localization (position awareness), guidance and flight controls, and federal and military regulations and policies, and will expand as the candidate grows within the domain. This job will build expertise in aircraft technologies that are both industry standards and C-17 specific. The primary subject matter for this role will be the Flight Management System, which is responsible for Flight Planning/navigation, guidance, control, display, and automation of aircraft. A successful candidate in this position requires having an excellent technical and communication skills while being aware of the business constraints.
