About The Position

The Buyer is responsible for facilitating the timely order of materials, components, and supplies to support production. They issue purchase orders to approved suppliers, ensure on-time delivery of components, obtain supplier quotes, expedite deliveries to resolve shortage. The Buyer position will support and implement Supply Chain initiatives and best practices. This position works very closely with the Purchasing and Logistics Manager at Maple Systems who plans and creates the weekly and monthly production schedules. Why Join Our Team? Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in a purchasing function interfacing with multiple customers
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Associate Degree or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain schedule and delivery confirmations from suppliers mostly via e-mail, sometimes by phone, and then update our ERP system accordingly.
  • Validate and communicate schedules and forecasts to suppliers to achieve on-time deliveries
  • Manage and update our NetSuite ERP data as needed.
  • Identify part shortages and expedites as needed
  • Schedule and conduct meetings to address delivery issues with vendors as directed.
  • Purchase materials, components, equipment, and services from a variety of sources, including maintaining associated MRP system requirements.
  • Assist with the purchasing parameters for new part numbers.
  • Assist with new vendors and quotes.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Receiving departments to resolve discrepancies related to incoming materials, billing, and purchase orders.
  • Process purchase requisitions for non-inventory items supporting projects and internal use.
  • Provide input to the Manufacturing team on scheduling and purchasing matters.
  • Analyze data, identify problematic areas, and suggest improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
