About The Position

The Buyer’s primary role is to transact with vendors to ensure we provide the right product at the right time at the best cost to meet our on-time delivery and margin goals.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2+ years in a purchasing or buying role
  • High aptitude for working with numbers and analyzing data
  • Intermediate level computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • 2-year or 4-year business degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Cost Negotiation: maximize gross margin by purchasing at lowest possible cost, including negotiating transactional purchase orders of standard items and pricing of non-standard items.
  • Inventory Management: support optimal inventory levels by reviewing Replenishment program and reorder point to place purchase orders, reviewing inventory turns to ensure inventory balance meets company goals, managing returns, and collaborating with other departments to minimize aged inventory.
  • On Time Delivery: ensure timely receipt of requested product for our customers, including reviewing Create PO Screen to place orders meeting customer dates, reviewing open purchase orders, working with vendors to ensure quick turnaround for rush orders, and managing on-time delivery metric.
  • Vendor Compliance: monitor vendor performance and follow up as needed, resolving issues related to order discrepancies, delays, or damaged goods, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
  • Continually look for ways to improve processes and systems to make them more efficient and effective.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for working safely at all times and providing a safe work environment for employees.
  • All other duties as assigned.
