About The Position

The Purchasing Buyer I is responsible for supporting the procurement of materials and supplies necessary for production. This role involves managing vendor relationships, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery to maintain smooth operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in a purchasing or supply chain role, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of supply chain processes and purchasing principles.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems (i.e. SAP) is a plus.
  • Ability to make decision making, professionalism, negotiating skills, problem solving, PC skills, drive for results, championing change, pursues personal development, collaboration, cooperation, communication.

Responsibilities

  • Vendor Management and Sourcing (40%)
  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable sourcing of raw materials and supplies.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery performance, and make recommendations for approved vendors.
  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Order Processing and Inventory Control (30%)
  • Process purchase orders and follow up on delivery schedules to ensure on-time and in-full delivery of materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders to maintain stock at required levels, aligning with production schedules.
  • Collaborate with the inventory management team to track usage rates and adjust purchasing quantities as needed.
  • Cost Analysis and Reporting (15%)
  • Assist in analyzing cost structures and market trends to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Generate reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost savings.
  • Support senior team members in the preparation of forecasts and budget analysis for purchasing needs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)
  • Work closely with production, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure material quality and timely availability for production.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide updates on procurement status and address any material supply concerns.
  • Continuous Improvement (5%)
  • Support initiatives to improve purchasing processes, enhance supplier partnerships, and optimize inventory management.
  • Participate in training sessions and contribute ideas to enhance efficiency in procurement operations.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 Standards and CSR efforts.
