About The Position

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide. Job Purpose The Buyer is responsible for procuring inventory and managing all aspects of the inventory procurement process. Buyers will develop and manage supplier relationships, as well as develop and maintain product pricing and product data that is critical to the procurement process.

Requirements

  • Possess an undergraduate degree in a related field or possess a high school diploma and 2 to 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, pivot tables, and vertical lookup).
  • The ability to learn MRC Global-specific software.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Establish internal and external business relationships using written correspondence, proper phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, good decision-making skills, and willingness to exercise them.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Work experience in Oracle Fusion Cloud - Procurement and/or Supply Chain Planning modules is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Demand Planners and Supply Planners to procure inventory and satisfy the changing demands of our customer base.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to develop product and market knowledge about the materials they supply.
  • Source materials and process purchase orders for inventory goods and maintain updated and accurate delivery schedules.
  • Diagnose and resolve supplier invoicing and receiving issues to ensure supplier invoices are paid in a timely manner.
  • Create RFQs and analyze supplier responses for competitively bid products.
  • Communicate with Sales and Operations regarding market conditions, pricing trends, and assist with product knowledge as required.
  • Manage and maintain accurate product procurement data, such as supplier contract pricing, lead time information, unit weights, order multiples, etc.
  • Assist in the creation of part numbers for new product lines and new inventory items.
  • Other Supply Chain-related duties as assigned.
