About The Position

Western Industries Plastic Products, LLC is a global leader in custom large-part blow molding with more than 30 years of manufacturing excellence. We design and produce innovative, high-quality plastic solutions. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Buyer to help lead our procurement efforts, drive cost savings, and strengthen supplier partnerships in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. What You’ll Do As a Buyer, you will play a key role in shaping our purchasing strategy while supporting daily operations. You will partner closely with engineering, production, quality, and leadership teams to ensure materials arrive on time, at the right cost, and at the highest quality.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills and systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and deal with changing priorities with ability to prioritize and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to self-manage and self-start on projects, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • BA/BS or AA/AS in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, or related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems and MRO purchasing.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS or ISM certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing activities for assigned commodities.
  • Make day-to-day purchasing decisions aligned with company strategy.
  • Research, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability and other relevant factors.
  • Analyze cost data increases and decreases and provide forecasted industry changes.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to improve quality, pricing, and delivery.
  • Manage purchase orders and ensure timely material flow.
  • Track procurement data, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Plant Management, and suppliers to resolve issues with defective or unacceptable goods and manage replacement deliveries and credits.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
