About The Position

Hobart Brothers LLC, an Illinois Tool Works Company, is a recognized leader in the manufacturing and distribution of welding consumables worldwide located in Troy, Ohio. POSITION PROFILE As a Buyer with Hobart Brothers, you are responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, components, and services for production operations. This role ensures on-time material availability, cost efficiency, supplier performance and alignment with production schedules. Responsibilities Procurement & Sourcing This role is about building strong supplier partnerships, applying analytical thinking to procurement decisions, and contributing to continuous improvement across the supply chain Builds and manages strong supplier relationships that ensure quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness Uses negotiation skills to secure value while maintaining long-term partnerships Proactively identifies supplier risks and creates solutions to maintain supply chain continuity Coordinate with production planning to maintain proper material availability and prevent production delays Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills Uses data and ERP systems to forecast, monitor, and respond to purchasing needs Leverages market insights and cost analysis to identify opportunities for savings and efficiency Approaches challenges with creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment Partners effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to align on goals Communicates with clarity and influence across diverse audiences, including international suppliers Actively participates in problem resolution and improvement initiatives Adaptability & Continuous Improvement Navigates changes in priorities, schedules, and market conditions with agility Seeks opportunities to optimize purchasing processes and contribute innovative ideas Demonstrates resilience in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards Takes ownership of results and demonstrates accountability Seeks to develop personal and team capabilities, sharing knowledge and supporting others Brings forward an enterprise mindset, focusing on what's best for the organization as a whole Maintains professionalism and integrity in all interactions Balances independence with collaboration, knowing when to lead and when to support

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field required.
Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain is beneficial but not required.
Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is a plus).
Transferable skills such as negotiation, data analysis, vendor management, and project coordination are valued.
