About The Position

Our family‑owned scrap recycling company is seeking a Buyer Trainee to join our team. This is a hands‑on, paid training position designed for someone interested in a long‑term career in sales, and commodities. The Buyer Trainee will spend approximately one year rotating through all areas of our operations, gaining a full understanding of how scrap material moves through our business—from scale and processing to logistics, pricing, and customer relationships. This training ensures you are fully prepared to succeed as a Buyer, responsible for purchasing scrap material and building strong supplier partnerships. What You’ll Learn During your training year, you will gain exposure to: Yard and scale operations (material identification, grading, and pricing) Processing and shipping of scrap materials Transportation and logistics Accounting and settlements Safety, environmental, and quality systems Sales and purchasing fundamentals Supplier and customer relationship management This comprehensive approach helps you understand the entire lifecycle of the material you will ultimately be responsible for buying .

Requirements

• Strong interest in sales, business, or commodities
• Willingness to learn and work in a hands‑on industrial environment
• Good communication and relationship‑building skills
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to rotate through multiple departments
• No scrap industry experience required —we will train the right candidate.
