About The Position

This Buyer Sr role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, providing Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Specifically, this position contributes to TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps globally, serving enterprise, data center, and government users requiring reliable connectivity. The Buyer Sr will ensure program requirements are prioritized and executed to meet Blue Origin's needs, adhering to Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives. The role requires excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in preparing and issuing Requests for Proposal/Requests for Quote, performing cost analysis, and leading negotiations. The Buyer Sr will construct various contracting types for major procurement activities, including long-range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, and continuous improvement initiatives. They will own the procurement process from requisition to final payment, resolving any issues, and will lead the identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements like Long-Term Agreements (LTAs). This position supports the overall procurement organization's strategic direction, ensuring corporate objectives are met, including the timely delivery of production materials within budget and technical performance requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 5+ years of experience in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related industry experience.
  • Interprets and applies company, policies, procedures, work instructions, business standards and U.S. government regulations, i.e., FAR, DFAR, ITAR/EAR, and SOX Compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills, data driven with experience in establishing and tracking program metrics.
  • Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations.
  • Must have top notch people and communication skills.
  • Working understanding of AS9100 standards.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Data such as specifications & source control drawings.
  • An eagerness to identify opportunities, find solutions, execute plans, and evaluate results critically and expediently.
  • Highly analytical and critical thinker.
  • Maintains passion for solving problems from end-to-end.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workload.
  • Track record of working in an ambiguous environment and ability to define processes that can scale.
  • Adept at working with different systems and making recommendations on improvements for both systems and processes (i.e. ERP, MS Office, Data Analytics).

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (Export Control Regulations).
  • Required to pass Blue’s Standard Background Check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical (Required for certain Job Profiles).

  • Current active DOD Secret Security Clearance and/or Special Access.
  • Experience with Costpoint and Satellite Communications components and assemblies procurements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to meet the needs Blue Origin.
  • Ensure Blue Origin Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives are met.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal/Requests for Quote.
  • Perform cost analysis in support of proposals.
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead formal negotiations.
  • Construct various contracting types for major procurement activities to meet the requirements of the programs and needs of the business to include long range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, continuous improvement initiatives, and identification of opportunities for enhanced efficiencies.
  • Take ownership of the procurement process from requisition creation through final payment of invoices.
  • Accountable to resolve issues within the procurement process.
  • Lead the identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (i.e., Long-Term Agreements (LTAs)) where mutually beneficial.
  • Support the overall procurement organization’s strategic direction.
  • Ensure corporate strategic objectives are achieved to include delivery of production materials that are on time, within budget and meet technical performance requirements.
  • Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives of the supply chain department.
  • Maintain compliant and accurate files and data records.
