About The Position

Blue Origin's vision is to enable millions of people to live and work in space for the benefit of Earth, developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This Buyer Sr role is part of Blue Origin Operations, specifically within the Integrated Supply Chain, supporting Manufacturing and Supply Chain across all Blue Origin facilities. The position is integral to TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver high-speed data globally. The Buyer Sr will be responsible for prioritizing and executing program requirements, ensuring compliance with Blue Origin's Supply Chain standards, and demonstrating strong communication skills. Key aspects of the role include preparing and issuing Requests for Proposal/Quote, performing cost analysis, developing and leading negotiation strategies, and constructing various contracting types for major procurement activities, including long-range agreements and sourcing partnerships. They will own the entire procurement process from requisition to final payment, resolving any issues, and leading the management of strategic agreements (LTAs). The role also involves supporting the overall procurement organization's strategic direction to ensure corporate objectives are met, including the timely, budget-compliant, and technically sound delivery of production materials. Success in this role requires strong influencing, facilitation, presentation, communication, process development, analysis, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to quality and passion for safe human spaceflight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 5+ years of experience in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related industry experience
  • Interprets and applies company, policies, procedures, work instructions, business standards and U.S. government regulations, i.e., FAR, DFAR, ITAR/EAR, and SOX Compliance
  • Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives of the supply chain department
  • Maintain compliant and accurate files and data records
  • Strong analytical skills, data driven with experience in establishing and tracking program metrics
  • Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations
  • Must have top notch people and communication skills
  • Working understanding of AS9100 standards
  • Knowledge of Engineering Data such as specifications & source control drawings
  • An eagerness to identify opportunities, find solutions, execute plans, and evaluate results critically and expediently
  • Highly analytical and critical thinker
  • Maintains passion for solving problems from end-to-end
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workload

Responsibilities

  • Ensure program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to meet the needs Blue Origin
  • Be competent in Blue Origin Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal/ Requests for Quote
  • Perform cost analysis in support of proposals
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead formal negotiations
  • Construct various contracting types for major procurement activities to meet the requirements of the programs and needs of the business to include long range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, continuous improvement initiatives, and identification of opportunities for enhanced efficiencies
  • Take ownership of the procurement process from requisition creation through final payment of invoices and are accountable to resolve issues within this process
  • Lead the identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (i.e., Long-Term Agreements (LTAs)) where mutually beneficial
  • Support the overall procurement organization’s strategic direction and ensure corporate strategic objectives are achieved to include delivery of production materials that are on time, within budget and meet technical performance requirements
