About The Position

This position’s responsibility is to learn about the products we sell and the products we purchase. They must become familiar with the people in the organization and what they do, place orders based on ERP system requirements, as requested by supervision, and will help find potential sources as assigned. They will be responsible for managing and monitoring purchase orders for on-time delivery, conformity, and completeness, and will work with the appropriate internal and external departments to resolve discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Possesses strong negotiation skills
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Capable of staying within a given budget
  • Good math skills and is quickly able to calculate the cost of goods and services
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Associate degree in business administration, supply chain, or relevant field OR comparable work experience
  • 1 - 3 years of purchasing experience

  • Additional language skills - multi-lingual, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Check requisitions for completeness and clarity and obtain necessary missing information as needed
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and compliance
  • Communicate actively with other departments to engage other team members providing and receiving real-time information
  • Utilizing the correct and current data received from other teams, buyers will request and/or update quotes, as needed
  • Initiate and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery with optimal lead-times and pricing
  • Initiate, facilitate, and track purchase orders according to company policies, escalating to management any issues or concerns that require complex review and/or resolution
  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager with monitoring and maintaining proper inventory levels
  • Uphold and comply with Demgy’s Code of Ethics and Conduct
  • Follow safety policies
  • Contribute to the success of the company’s environmental, health & safety program
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers in all departments
  • Maintain accurate documentation as required, following DEMGY Pacific’s document and record control procedures as applicable to the position
  • Ensure that housekeeping within the department is properly maintained
  • Follow Demgy 5S program (workstation organization/locations maintained)
  • Follow policies outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor
