The Opportunity: Index Exchange is looking for a Buyer Development, Senior Director to help grow and deepen our commercial partnerships across the US independent agency ecosystem and within the political vertical. This includes independent agencies, agency groups, specialist consultancies, and emerging buyer models shaping the future of programmatic investment. Index is financially strong, independent, and in growth mode, with modern technology and no legacy platform drag. We are moving fast in the areas buyers care about most, including streaming, sell-side decisioning, and Marketplace innovation, while remaining grounded in transparency, neutrality, and partnership. In this role, you will own relationships across independent agencies and political demand partners setting strategy and driving consistent execution. You will drive revenue growth through product adoption and build long-term relationships and partnership value, while acting as the senior buyer voice within Index. This role sits at the intersection of commercial leadership, buyer strategy, and marketplace innovation. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in digital media with deep knowledge of the programmatic advertising ecosystem (SSP, DSP, exchange, PMP, agency trading desk, ad server, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of the independent agency landscape, including operating models and buying structures
  • Experience working with political demand partners
  • Your network boasts deep relationships and demonstrates your comfort navigating a range of commercial models through strong agency and brand connections; an existing network across independent agencies is ideal
  • Proven success in buyer-facing sales roles within ad tech or programmatic environments
  • Confidence delivering technical explanations, education, and strategic recommendations to partners

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead relationships with independent agencies and political demand partners within the US market
  • Design and execute an impactful sales strategy to drive demand across independent agencies, establishing and nurturing executive-level relationships
  • Drive revenue growth and increased adoption of Index’s buyer-facing products across agencies and buying teams
  • Act as a trusted advisor on SPO, marketplace quality, curation, data activation, and evolving buying models
  • Increase executive alignment through strategic planning sessions, QBRs, and senior stakeholder engagement
  • Represent the buyer perspective internally, influencing Product roadmap and go-to-market decisions
  • Identify new commercial opportunities within independent agencies
  • Partner closely with Buyer Account Management teams to ensure consistent execution and impact across accounts
  • Maintain an accurate and robust pipeline, providing regular sales activity and revenue forecasts, and leveraging our CRM for maximum transparency and tracking
  • Monitor key industry trends, competitive insights and market conditions to inform strategic direction and identify new business opportunities
  • Represent Index at industry events and senior partner forums
