About The Position

ATC Automation is seeking a Business Unit Manager located in Cookeville, TN. In this role, you will manage all aspects of mechanical and electrical design, assembly, wiring, testing/debug, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) associated with the production of Capital Equipment for our customers in Automotive, Energy, Life Science, and Consumer product industries. This is a senior-level position, capable of managing internal personnel of up to 26 team members, vendors, customer relationships, the generation of and maintaining of project timelines, cost and time estimations, and profit/loss management. The ideal candidate would possess the following traits as a minimum, independent thinking, strong conceptual skills, strong understanding of machining fundamentals and material properties, excellent communication skills both verbal and written, the ability to present engineering concepts in an effective manner to customers and peers, effective at time management, budgetary awareness, strong decision making capabilities, excellent leadership skills, conflict resolution skills, and the ability and desire to mentor. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology/ Associates degree in mechanical engineering technology.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a management or leadership role in a manufacturing, or automation environment, 5+ years preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to speak effectively present information/respond to questions in a clear and concise manner, etc.
  • Ability to manage, resolve conflicts.
  • Computer skills, including a familiarity with SolidWorks 3-D design package.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Mathematical and problem solving skills.
  • Communication skills in a team environment.
  • The ability to attend work predictably and regularly and to be punctual.
  • The ability to read and understand documents and drawings.
  • The ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others.
  • The ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the efforts of a Mechanical Design group within your team.
  • Manage and lead the efforts of a Controls Design group within your team.
  • Vendor Management.
  • Manage all aspects of machine assembly.
  • Ability to assist in troubleshooting, FAT and SAT efforts.
  • Ability to travel up as needed up to 10% yearly to meet with customers.
  • Create MS Project timelines.
  • Forecasting and tracking of project timelines, manpower allocations, cash forecasting.
  • Assisting the recruiting efforts for the onboarding of new/additional employees.
  • Resolve conflict within team members as well as with customers.
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages of completeness.
  • Communicate to Director of Operations, and others if needed, the status of your projects including the projections for financial profit or loss.
  • Create Project Change Notices (PCN's)- Quotes for scope changes, additions, credits, etc. for your existing projects.
  • Travel required, valid driver's license.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
