About The Position

The Business Unit Director plays a critical leadership role at Kent Power, overseeing all day‑to-day business unit performance across safety, financial outcomes, operational execution, and quality. This position leads multiple operational departments, ensuring that teams deliver exceptional work while upholding Kent Power’s core values. As the senior operational leader for Indiana, the Business Unit Director drives strategic growth, builds high‑performing teams, strengthens customer and stakeholder relationships, and ensures operational excellence in a fast-moving utility construction environment. This role requires a decisive, collaborative leader who can balance strategic planning with hands-on oversight of people, processes, budgets, and performance metrics. The Business Unit Director will champion continuous improvement, support organizational change initiatives, and serve as a frontline representative of Kent Power’s mission, culture, and operational standards throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives and drive growth.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple departments within the organization, ensuring work quality, completion, and compliance.
  • Monitor financial and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and meet appropriate metrics.
  • Lead and mentor department heads and promote effective team leadership and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and processes to optimize efficiency, productivity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to align with organizational goals.
  • Foster a continuous improvement and innovation culture to drive operational excellence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external key stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and industry partners.
  • Negotiate with various stakeholders to ensure resources are utilized appropriately.
  • Evaluate market trends and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities and risks, recommending investments as needed.
  • Resolve operational issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manger.
  • Communicate organizational goals, initiatives, and expectations to employees at all levels.
