About The Position

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) – UKG is the functional owner of UKG system behavior for timekeeping and payroll. This role is accountable for translating HR/Payroll policies, compliance requirements, and operational reality into accurate, auditable, and scalable configuration within UKG. The UKG BSA leads functional design, configuration governance, and UAT acceptance to protect payroll accuracy and reduce long-term vendor dependency. Platform Ownership & Configuration Own end‑to‑end UKG configuration across timekeeping, pay rules, accruals, payroll calendars, and retro logic Design and maintain calculation rules that correctly interpret worked time, premiums, and policy exceptions Serve as final authority on how business requirements are implemented in UKG Payroll Accuracy & Risk Control Ensure predictable payroll outcomes through deliberate configuration and testing Own payroll close mechanics, cutoff rules, and audit checkpoints Partner with Payroll Ops and Tax to prevent defects before they reach production Accrual & Policy Translation Translate HR policies into accrual engines that balance compliance with operational reality Own balance logic, caps, resets, carryover, and corrections Minimize manual adjustments through system‑first design Integrations & Data Integrity Own functional logic for inbound and outbound integrations (EVV, rates, benefits, GL, tax files) Validate mapping, assumptions, and downstream impact of changes Ensure failures are visible, explainable, and resolved quickly UAT Leadership & Release Management Design UAT scenarios that reflect real‑world payroll risk Define pass/fail criteria and approve or reject releases Lead change impact analysis and configuration documentation Governance & Continuous Improvement Establish and enforce UKG configuration standards and guardrails Reduce vendor dependency through internal expertise Continuously simplify and harden the platform as programs scale Posture by familiarizing themselves with all policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines and act.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Direct experience with UKG (multiple implementations strongly preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in business systems analysis and/or enterprise SaaS platform configuration ownership (timekeeping/payroll strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience translating policy and operational workflows into system rules/configuration with strong attention to auditability and risk
  • Experience leading functional testing/UAT (scenario design, defect triage, go/no-go readiness)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to diagnose issues at the configuration/workflow/data level
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including ability to push back respectfully and arbitrate tradeoffs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills with all stakeholders, including clients, state entities, and colleagues
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully interact with client base that has varying levels of ability, educational backgrounds, authority, and ethnicities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting multi-state operations and/or compliance-heavy environments
  • Familiarity with payroll/tax/GL impacts and reconciliation concepts (functional understanding)
  • Experience with change governance and release management in SaaS enterprise platforms
  • Experience creating durable documentation standards for configuration and system behavior
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a tech and healthcare environment
