About The Position

Business Oregon, the state’s economic development agency, is currently hiring a Business Systems Analyst (Information Systems Specialist 6) If you are passionate about driving smarter decisions, streamlining complex systems, and turning business needs into powerful solutions, join us as a Business Systems Analyst where your insights directly shape how our organization works, grows, and succeeds. This is a hybrid position that may have the ability to work from home, with the expectation of an occasional in-office presence as needed to support business operations. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current positions and may be used to fill future vacancies. Here’s what you will do: The Business Systems Analyst will perform system analysis, gather business and technical requirements, and develop specifications for new systems or enhancements of existing systems. This position also provides technical training and user support for agency software applications and assists other IT staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of information systems experience.
  • OR An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR Completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience.
  • OR A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in large scale, multi-phase initiatives.
  • Intermediate eliciting requirements from multiple stakeholder groups using structured techniques.
  • Documenting requirements in formal artifacts.
  • Experience working on systems with integrations, shared data, or cross-system dependencies.
  • Conducting structured analysis, presenting findings and recommendations to support decision making.
  • Hands on experience supporting system testing and validation including developing or validating and analyzing test results.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers, documents, and analyzes user, business and functional software requirements, and assesses technology solutions and recommends options.
  • Analyzes user needs and system requirements through discussion with individual users or small groups of users.
  • Develop detailed feature requirements from the high-level business requirements.
  • Develop detailed specifications for software that will fulfill the defined requirements.
  • System specifications include, but are not limited to, screen prototypes if appropriate, detailed Use Cases, object models, object collaboration and responsibility definitions, database models, and glossaries.
  • Creates object models that represent application structure and creates data models that represent the logical groupings of data in coordination with application developers, when necessary.
  • Develop detailed analysis of business processes and procedures.
  • Conducts design walkthroughs with peers, supervisors, and users to obtain agreement on the proposed design solution.
  • Identifies corrupt or problematic data issues for mission critical systems and evaluates and executes actions to resolve errors as needed.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff or consultants in requirement analysis, quality assurance, user acceptance testing and deployment.
