About The Position

The Business Systems Analyst II (WMS) works closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate functional and technical requirements into detailed system specifications supporting the modernization and enhancement of Warehouse Management Systems. This role focuses on distribution center operations and front-end system functionality, partnering with warehouse operations, product, UX, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, user-centered solutions. The analyst will play a key role in a large WMS modernization initiative, helping bridge legacy system knowledge with future-state capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience analyzing and documenting requirements for an established Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Understanding of core distribution center functions, including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory management.
  • Conducts gap analysis between current and future states to support WMS modernization initiatives.
  • Understands business context, warehouse operations, organizational structures, and system capabilities to document current-state processes.
  • Envisions and documents future-state WMS processes by defining solution scope, expected value, and required system changes.
  • Leads or supports facilitated sessions for requirements elicitation, focus groups, and user acceptance testing.
  • Utilizes modeling tools to document workflows, process improvements, use cases, and user stories.
  • Creates clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly documentation that conveys complex operational and technical concepts.
  • Translates warehouse user needs into business and system requirements.
  • Supports build-versus-buy analysis and evaluates enhancement approaches for WMS capabilities.
  • Establishes quality standards for requirements and performs verification activities.
  • Manages requirements documentation, traceability, approvals, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identifies key stakeholders and supports stakeholder communication and expectation management.
  • 1–3 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role, working with minimal supervision.
  • Basic experience coordinating work across teams or supporting small initiatives (4–6 months preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with WMS ancillary components such as profiling/slotting, labor management systems, voice picking, or similar warehouse technologies.
  • Experience supporting or participating in the modernization of a large legacy system.
  • Exposure to UI/UX concepts or collaboration with UX teams on front-end system changes.
  • Experience interpreting or contributing to business case development and ROI analysis.
  • Familiarity with database reporting tools or operational reporting.
  • Experience identifying and managing risks related to system or process changes.
  • Ability to support project scheduling and coordination activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support and contribute to the documentation of current-state (“as is”) and future-state (“to be”) warehouse and system processes, accurately describing changes required to transition to the target state.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with distribution center stakeholders, product teams, and technical partners using interviews, workshops, and working sessions.
  • Critically analyze and decompose complex warehouse and fulfillment workflows into functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Conduct research using primary data sources to analyze operational trends, system pain points, and user experience challenges.
  • Interpret business needs and recommend solution approaches related to WMS functionality and front-end system behavior.
  • Identify, elicit, document, and validate system and process requirements, ensuring clarity and alignment with warehouse operations.
  • Define test scripts, acceptance criteria, and verification methods to ensure WMS enhancements meet operational and user requirements.
  • Maintain requirements documentation, traceability, and change control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, including process flows, system interfaces, data elements, and integration requirements.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI teams to ensure front-end designs align with warehouse user workflows and usability standards.
  • Explore external developments and emerging trends in warehouse technology and system modernization, contributing to solution evaluation.
  • Participate in feasibility assessments for proposed enhancements and support the development of business cases.
  • Deliver small- to medium-scale initiatives or workstreams within an established program management framework.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including warehouse leadership and engineering teams.
  • Support a culture of innovation by contributing ideas that improve usability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Develop professional capabilities through training, coaching, and ongoing learning related to WMS platforms, distribution operations, and business analysis practices.
