About The Position

The role supports Valero's commitment to advancing the future of energy through innovation and execution, focusing on commercial trade operations, market analysis, and data interpretation related to global renewable and low-carbon feedstock and fuel markets.

Requirements

  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at either the Valero St. Charles Diamond Green Diesel or Valero Corporate Headquarter locations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial distribution/supply chain management, business, finance, accounting, mathematics, science, or engineering.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in refining or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Access and Power BI.
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative, on-site work environment, which will include participation in unscheduled discussions and troubleshooting on an as needed basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong technical and analytical skills; working knowledge of SAP.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and planning methodologies.
  • Understanding of pricing and cost mechanisms, supply and inventory management, logistics, blending, specifications, and contracts.
  • Experience developing and delivering business reporting and analysis.
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following areas: Scheduling (Crude & Feedstocks, Products, Rail, Marine), Business Analysis (Crude & Feedstocks, Products, Wholesale Allocations, Wholesale Pricing, Trading Risk, Transportation, Transfer Pricing, Commercial Logistics Contract, Accounting).

Responsibilities

  • Support commercial trade operations through market, regulatory, and financial analysis.
  • Actively analyze, maintain, and interpret data on global renewable and low-carbon feedstock and fuel markets and regulations, and assesses their impact on DGD operations.
  • Prepare, summarize, and communicate key commercial and market insights to internal stakeholders and management.
  • Support commercial risk management by providing analytical insight into exposure and forecasting across feedstock procurement and finished product sales.
  • Support the assignment of feedstock attributes to finished product sales to maximize profitability and regulatory compliance across applicable markets (allocations and mass balancing).
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve analytical and reporting processes through automation, standardization, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and data reliability.
  • Support the Valero Accounting team with invoice calculations for finished product sales and troubleshoots feedstock and product pricing issues.
  • Utilize SAP and CXL to extract secondary cost data and establish cost basis; identify and recommend opportunities for secondary cost improvements to logistics and trading teams.
  • Assist with the management of information systems initiatives, including SAP and CXL upgrades, compliance and logistics tracking tools, and other ad hoc system enhancements.
  • Assist in the preparation and issuance of sustainability documentation.
  • Prepare routine commercial activity reports as well as ad hoc financial, operational, and forecast reports.
  • Provide coverage and support for traders on the DGD Commercial team as needed.
  • Perform special projects and analyses as assigned by management.
