As an Operations & Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for oversight, leadership and development of a team of professionals focused on claims and underwriting regulatory support and shared service workflows available from common core applications such as Guidewire. In this role, you will work closely with the Alternative Markets operating units including managers and directors to align and support the shared service operations across various underwriting and claims departments focused on workers compensation. In this role, you will work with business operating units within W.R. Berkley Corporation to optimize efficiencies, coordinate regulatory reporting efforts and to execute organizational strategy and initiatives that leverage common core applications and shared workflows. You'll have overall responsibility for professional development of employees, oversight of direct report's tasks, underwriting and claims operations and regulatory initiatives and team results. The success of the shared functions are key expectations of this role and consistent communication with the team, vendor support partners and other impacted business areas is expected. We'll look to you to manage the shared team strategy to continue to develop and grow the team's knowledge and skillset. You'll review and advise on data analysis within your department and also strategize cross-functional opportunities across the segment to ensure we are finding and delivering efficiencies in common operational workflows and processes. You will work closely with bamtech leadership team and leaders across the segment to help with team execution of the overall segment strategy. The Operations & Quality Assurance Manager fulfills the primary responsibilities of the role by executing the following duties and tasks: Supervisory oversight and leadership of a team of professionals responsible for ensuring the company is aware of and compliant with various underwriting and claims regulations Proactively review and analyze data to identify issues and opportunities for process improvement and innovation, suggest solutions, and create and implement changes Management oversight of policy and unit stat data reporting for NCCI and independent state bureaus ensuring timely and accurate reporting for all segment operating units leveraging common core Guidewire applications Management oversight of claims data reporting in accordance with various states requirements, including but not limited to, First Reports of Injury (FROI) and Subsequent Reports of Injury (SROI), and other various state specific claims regulatory reporting requirements to ensure timely and accurate reporting Work with Segment/Corporate Compliance team to monitor and interpret legislative changes that may impact regulatory compliance and determine impact on business operations and compliance programs Assess talent, identify development and training opportunities, and collaborate with employees and department leaders to establish annual goals and create individual development plans to develop their technical acumen and professional behavioral competencies Provide timely coaching and feedback, and conduct crucial conversations to drive and manage individual and team performance Partner with HR and leadership team to execute on talent management and engagement strategies to increase employee engagement, drive performance and foster a psychologically safe environment Develop plans to implement shared processes/programs to adhere to regulatory developments and efficiency opportunities. Organize and manage regulatory reporting to reduce fines and penalties Maintain and create workflow documentation for shared service functions Work with Segment Compliance team and corporate Enterprise Shared Services group on rates, rules and forms, filing updates, claims data calls. This includes oversight to and validation of system updates as required by these filings/updates including coordination of user acceptance testing needs with underwriting and claims leadership Collaboration with other W.R. Berkley operating units to ensure compliance of all NCCI & state bureau regulatory requirements Collaborate and work closely with our data and business analyst teams to foster ideas to improve efficiencies with our processes and product, and assist in prioritizing project work Coordinate with Operating Unit underwriting and claims management to ensure proper resource allocation Address and resolve escalated business situations with both internal and external customers Oversight/liaison for the segment supporting the agency appointment process and requests to enterprise.
