About The Position

As Business Operations Manager, Club & Rec Sports, you will play a central role in driving growth and performance within Rocket Youth’s Club division (currently comprised of Volleyball, Basketball, Lacrosse, and Soccer, and expanding into additional Club Sports verticals) and our Rec division (currently comprised of Gymnastics and Swim). You will serve as an extension of the Club and Rec leadership teams, with the primary goal of profitably growing our businesses while offering strong operational support to our local partners. This role is designed as a launchpad into full P&L ownership and general management of various partner-company P&Ls across both divisions. Successful candidates can expect to progress towards P&L ownership of multiple partner companies (mix of single- and multi-location operations) within 6-12 months, depending on performance and business needs. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in operations, business analysis, consulting, finance, or similar high-responsibility roles with exposure to youth sports/enrichment, multi-unit operations, or service businesses.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment; thrives on accountability and results.
  • Clear and effective communicator who can build trust with operators and internal teams.
  • Both a tactical doer and a strategist — able to dive into details while driving long-term vision.
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills; comfortable learning and improving financial models.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a “roll up your sleeves” mindset — comfortable tackling both tactical tasks and bigger-picture challenges as they arise.
  • Passion for youth sports, learning, and long-term professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement growth levers across both Club and Rec businesses, including:
  • Program and offering expansion (rec leagues, clinics, camps, club teams).
  • Pricing strategy and promotional testing.
  • Tournament/events strategy.
  • Support operators in growing enrollment, participation, and revenue while maintaining strong customer experience.
  • Introduce and scale best practices across portfolio companies.
  • Serve as a day-to-day partner to operators across multiple businesses.
  • Ensure strong execution of key seasonal and operational moments:
  • Tryouts (Club).
  • Season launches and class scheduling (Rec).
  • Camps, clinics, and events.
  • Drive organization, accountability, and follow-through across initiatives.
  • Act as a connector across HQ functions (Finance, HR, Marketing, IT, etc.).
  • Leverage reporting and dashboards to track:
  • Enrollment, retention, and participation trends.
  • Conversion metrics.
  • Program performance and utilization.
  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations for operators.
  • Support pricing, staffing, and programming decisions with data.
  • Understand and ultimately own performance across the full customer lifecycle:lead generation → inquiry → trial → enrollment → retention → reactivation.
  • Partner with Marketing and operators to:
  • Improve speed-to-lead, follow-up consistency, and sales discipline.
  • Increase conversion rates from lead to trial and trial to enrollment.
  • Ensure marketing demand effectively translates into filled programs.
  • Drive enrollment growth through improved class/program utilization and scheduling efficiency.
  • Identify key drivers of churn and drop-off across programs and locations.
  • Implement practical retention strategies, including:
  • Improved onboarding and early customer engagement.
  • Reactivation campaigns.
  • Cross-sell and upsell across programs and offerings.
  • Continuously improve customer experience to increase lifetime value while maintaining program quality and safety.
  • Support onboarding of newly acquired businesses.
  • Help assess current operations and identify growth opportunities.
  • Assist in implementing Rocket Youth systems, tools, and processes.
  • Enforce safety standards and compliance across businesses.
  • Partner with integration and functional teams to ensure smooth transitions.
