About The Position

The Business Operations Analyst coordinates and oversees day-to-day programmatic activities, administrative functions, and events for the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CCBS). This role manages operations for the Center’s regular programs, including scheduling, procurement, logistics, and project coordination from inception through post-implementation needs. Working under the direction of the Center Director and Senior Administrative Manager, the position provides planning and budgeting support to help advance and expand the interdisciplinary cognitive science and neuroscience community, and identifies opportunities for collaboration with other Ohio State units. The Business Operations Analyst works independently with general instruction and exercises judgment in handling routine issues. The role manages the planning and execution of annual Center programs and events, including the CCBS Member Retreat, Undergraduate Summer Institute, colloquium series, Humanities & Cognitive Sciences Institute activities, Undergraduate Poster Session, CogFest, and public events. The position oversees interdisciplinary funding competitions such as Summer Graduate Research Awards, Faculty Seed Grants, and undergraduate scholarship programs, and coordinates additional projects and ad-hoc funding requests as needed. The role also provides support to the CCBS Executive Committee; hires, oversees, and mentors student employees; and oversees Center communications, including the website, newsletter, and social media, as well as the development of promotional materials and support for Center outreach and fundraising initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in program coordination, event planning, project administration, or academic program support
  • Experience managing logistics, timelines, communications, and stakeholder coordination
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Basic familiarity with budgeting or procurement processes (e.g., purchase requests, reimbursements, or small-scale program expenses)
